Season Essentials: Summer Picnic Planning

There’s no question about it, summer is the best time to have a picnic. Planning a picnic is easier than you think. Check out these ideas on how to plan your best one.

It’s important to decide how many people will be attending your summer event. This helps determine the amount of food, your costs, and your location before the actual day. Planning stages are crucial. You want to be prepared.

 Food and Beverages

Make sure to plan what types of food and beverages you will have. Whether a barbecue tickles your fancy or finger foods and salads float your boat, you’re going to need an action plan. Fruits are also a perfect and healthy option to bring to any picnic. You can even have your guests bring some of their favorite dishes. If you take this route, remember– it’s less clean up for you. Potlucks for the win!

The location might be the most important decision. You can always go to your local park and set up on a large blanket. Most local parks will usually have picnic tables where you can also set up your food. If you’re more on the adventurous side, plan a short road trip to a scenic location for your event.  A picnic is not a picnic without the activities you have planned. You can always set up a game of baseball or soccer. Other games include Frisbee, potato sack racing, or even water balloon fights.

Lastly, after the fun is over, make sure you come prepared to clean! Be sure to pack trash bags so you may properly dispose of items at the end of the day. It’s also not a bad idea to pack wipes and hand sanitizer for use throughout.
