Time Saver

Clearly, the motive to do anything in life! We’re all pressed for time. It’s valuable. Take back your precious time and take your rental payments to the web. Paying your rent online not only saves you the hassle of driving over to your local office, but it also allows you to complete this in the comfort of your own home. Paying your rent online should be quick and easy, so make it so by checking this item off your list.

Audit Trail

I like this reason because documentation is crucial. As a resident, you want to ensure forms of payments can be tracked. An audit trail is key as it minimizes any areas of discrepancy. When you pay online, our system is able to efficiently track your payments. If there is an issue with rent payment, your local office will be able to inform you of any errors. Paperless is always the way to go.

User-friendly

My local office is Peoria, AZ, and the automatic scheduled payment system does not work correctly, and has not for the past 3 months (August 2017, September 2017, and October 2017). My automatic payment date is the first of every month, the same day that my rent is due. I thought that the system would be intelligent enough to automatically process payments after the rent is actually added to the balance, but this is not the case. Only my utilities were automatically paid each month.

There are really two issues here. One is obviously the “automatic” payment system. The other is that I received absolutely no notification that my rent was not paid in full. The system actually sends out an eviction notice automatically, and that “automatic” mechanism works fine. Go figure. Luckily I check my bank balance frequently and noticed on my own that the payment was not in-full. I was able to get in contact with my local office to fix the issue after about an hour and a half of jumping through hoops and locating their up-to-date contact info.

Each month, they say the issue is going to get fixed, but then I find that the issue remains. Maybe leaving a public comment on this blog will help get the issue resolved.

Hello Joshua – We apologize for the inconvenience. We do not have control to make any changes to your auto-pay account. Please visit the following link and contact your bank to ensure all is set up correctly: http://blog.waypointhomes.com/set-auto-pay/

We have also notified your local office and asked them to give you a call.

      Thank you,

I appreciate you sending me the link to set up scheduled auto payments; however, I think you may have misunderstood the issue.

I set up my scheduled auto payment through the portal back in May of this year, and my rent is due on the 1st of every month and my scheduled automatic payments occur on the 1st of every month as well. Both my utilities AND rent were being paid automatically for the months of May, June, and July. Since August, only my utilities are being automatically paid. I set up scheduled automatic payments through the portal, not through my bank. I am highly suspicious that this is an issue with the payment system that Waypoint Homes is using, and not an issue with my bank. I feel like it is worth running this through the appropriate contacts in charge of developing/maintaining the payment system, as it may be an issue with scheduling auto payment before the rent appears on the bill.

Thank you! I’ll update this post next month on the status.

Hello for the final time. Changing my scheduled monthly payment to the 2nd of the month was the workaround for this bug. The automatic payment, although processed one day after my due date, now includes my entire rent with utilities. Thanks for the assistance and providing a means of getting this issue elevated.

I need to pay my rent online using the pay by check option….But that option doesnt come up. The only thing I see is the Credit card options. Can you check my account and see why this option doesnt come up.

These are all great reasons to collect rent payments online. I would also love to add that collecting rent online is convenient for all parties involved and provides an added layer of security for your tenants. After all, preventing identity theft is more important than ever these days and secure online payments can help reduce those instances. Thanks again for sharing, I am sure your readers will become more interested in online rent collection after seeing your convincing reasons for doing so.
