Chicken Salad Sandwich: The Best ‘Any-party’ Recipe
With a sweet, fresh flavor, guests are sure to delight in the simplicity of this tasty chicken salad sandwich. I love this dish because it pairs nicely with an array of sides. It is also a crowd pleaser for any function!
Bonus—I’ve included ways you can tweak, accentuate, and jazz up a few ingredients to your liking! Double bonus–it’s an easy recipe. Let’s get started.
Chicken Salad Sandwich Ingredients
- 1 12 oz Shredded Chicken
- ½ of a bag of Green Grapes
- 1/3 of a bag of Red Grapes
- Half a stalk of Green Onions
- Half a bunch of Celery
- ½ a cup of Mayonnaise
- 1/3 of a cup of Half n’ Half (Optional)
- ½ a cup of yogurt (I like to use vanilla)
- 1/3 cup of Sour Cream
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Brown Sugar (1/2 cup)
- Cayenne Pepper
- Dill (2 teaspoons)
- 6 Croissants
Season and cook your chicken to start off. I like to take a shortcut and purchase pre-cooked and seasoned shredded chicken. It just makes life easier, especially if you’re pressed for time. Use the additional time you save to chop up your fruits and veggies.
Start off by dicing up your celery and green onions. I’m not too keen on celery, so I like to finely dice these so it’s a little bit inconspicuous (Props to those who trick themselves into eating their veggies too). If you’re up for the robust crunch, chop the celery into chunkier pieces.
I tend to favor green grapes over red ones, so the parts are never quite equal—there’s just something about a crunchy, juicy green grape. Halve your grapes and set these aside.
Next comes the dressing. Mix together your sour cream, yogurt, mayo, and a little bit of your half n’ half. I say a “little bit” so you can determine the consistency of the mix. If you like your dressing on the thicker side, by all means, omit this step. If not, have at it.
You’ll continue by adding the brown sugar and the lemon juice. Whisk this all together.
After this, add in your spices. To be perfectly honest, when I first spotted a similar version of this recipe, I followed it to a tee. The next time I made it, I added in whatever spices I personally enjoyed. I tossed in parsley once, but for starters, let’s just stick with the aforementioned. Throw in your dill, pepper (black and cayenne), and paprika.
Once this is all mixed, pour over your shredded chicken and toss the ingredients (grapes and veggies included) together.
Cut open your croissants and fill it up with all this chicken, grapey goodness. Bon appetite!
