5 Last Minute 4th of July Plans

The 4th of July is a staple holiday for our country because it’s our birthday, and who doesn’t love a fun celebration? Don’t  worry if you haven’t made plans yet. We have some last minute ideas to ensure you to have a fabulous time!

Old-fashion BBQ

Planning a backyard BBQ may sound stressful, but it doesn’t have to be! Invite a few friends and/or family members over and ask everyone to bring a dish to share. This way, you don’t have to prepare as much or clean as much either! Typically, the host will provide the main dish, basic necessities (plates, silverware, cups, etc). You can also make it a BYOB event to save money and time as well! Everyone will have fun, and we have some awesome recipe ideas on our blog here.

Go To The Beach/Lake/River

If you live by a large body of water, this is a prime spot to hit for the holiday. The cool water and breeze will help alleviate the heat of July, plus it usually entails a gorgeous scenery! Be sure to prepare your skin though, we don’t want any sunburns. Many large recreation areas will offer their own fireworks or allow you to use smaller fireworks, so make sure you check ahead of time!

Check Out Your Local Festivities

Almost all larger cities and towns will offer a 4th of July celebration. Growing up, this was my favorite part about where I live, so if you haven’t checked yours out yet, do so this year! You can likely find this on your hometown’s website, but we’ve picked a few from some of our regions to share:

  • NorCal: San Ramon’s Central Park – Summer Concert (my hometown!)
  • Orlando: Lake Eola Park – Fireworks at the Fountain
  • Dallas: Arlington City Hall – 4th of July Parade
  • Chicago: Navy Pier – Fireworks Celebration
  • San Diego: Seaport Village & Embarcadero area – Big Bay Boom Fireworks Show
  • Atlanta: Downtown Covington – Stars and Stripes Fest

Stay-in With Your Friends/Family

Who said you have to leave your couch to celebrate? Sometimes, we all just need that extra day off from work, and this is the perfect time to take it. A fun way to spruce up the day is to watch some patriotic movies such as Independence Day, Saving Private Ryan, Air Force One or any of these other options!

Hit The Mall

It’s hot, and the mall is the perfect spot to cool off! If you’re not much of a partier, we suggest taking full advantage of all the holiday deals. Your friends will be jealous of all your cool finds, and you’ll still have time for fireworks at night! From grills to shoes, and appliances to electronics, check out some major sales here.

We’d love to hear from you! Let us know what you have going on this Independence Day, or if you have any family traditions you’d like to share with us. Happy 4th of July!
