We all know how popular these countertop novelties have become in recent years! Swap out that toxic, store-bought diffuser oil for a safer, more cost-effective aroma in just a few quick steps.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • A glass diffuser (or any small glass container with a narrow opening)
  • 6-8 diffuser reeds (can be purchased at any craft store, but bamboo skewers also work great!)
  • 3 oz. base oil of your choosing (sweet almond oil or safflower oil)
  • 23-30 drops of your favorite essential oil(s)

Combine all ingredients into the diffuser bottle and allow the oil to seep into the sticks for a few hours. Flip the sticks every few days to refresh the scent!

Combine the following in a pan over low to medium heat:

  • 2-3 cups of water
  • 20-25 drops of your favorite essential oil(s)
  • Sliced lemon, apple, or any other fruit that compliments your oils

Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and allow to simmer for several hours as desired. Be sure to replenish water and oils as they evaporate with the heat.
